LAIKIPIA
Loisaba This ‘spafari’ lodge has loads of activities to help you see the world differently – and from here it looks magnificent, looking out from an escarpment over endless wilderness towards Mt Kenya. Loisaba has a pool, tennis court and spa; but stars of the show (literally) are the unique star beds
Ol Pejeta Bush Camp This owner-managed traditional tented bush camp on the Ewaso Nyiro River offers an intimate safari experience with just six tents. Guests are given a unique insight into modern conservation, and encouraged to be as interactive as they wish.
SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
Elephant Bedroom Camp This small and comfortable camp with twelve tents on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro is perfect for an authentic East African experience. It’s named after the huge herds of elephants that visit the camp.
Sasaab Lodge With commanding views towards Mt Kenya, Sasaab uses Moroccan principles in its design; each room is huge with enormous openair bathrooms and massive beds with a light and airy feel. And, for extra cooling, each has its own plunge pool too.
SHABA
Joy’s Camp Shaba is a peaceful, secluded idyll, and this is where Joy Adamson moved to after Meru. The camp overlooks a natural spring where elephants and lions drink with herds of buffalo, giraffes and zebras, with just ten sumptuous tents featuring vibrant local decor.
MERU NATIONAL PARK
Elsa’s Kopje One of the most elegant lodges in Kenya, in a spectacular setting with eight openfronted cottages, honeymoon suite, and a private house ideal for families. The beautifully-appointed lodge incorporates the hillside’s natural features, with an open bar, lounge, dining room and infinity pool making the most of the views.
AMBOSELI
Tortilis Camp Renowned for its large elephant population, Amboseli National Park has the best views of Kilimanjaro. Tortilis Camp is in an area of acacia woodland, with spacious tents and thatched lounge, bar and dining areas…all very exquisite, and all with those views!
MAASAI MARA
Governors’ Camps A group of four camps set on a stretch of the Mara River in a magical setting; choose your camp according to how much luxury, privacy and exclusivity you want. Governors’ Camp is the largest, with Little Governors’ a little more intimate; Il Moran is a premier experience, while Governors’ Private Camp takes just one family or group at a time.
Naibor Camp Tucked away on the banks of the Talek River, you’re in pole position to see the legendary Migration; close to all the major wildebeest crossing sites over the Mara River. The luxury tents combine contemporary style with gorgeous chunky furnishings, with the two stylish suite tents of Little Naibor available privately.
Karen Blixen Camp This is a wonderful combination of modern comforts with an ambience of the exciting 1920s explorations of Karen Blixen, author of Out of Africa. The luxury tents are simply superb; all with undisturbed views along the Mara River.
Mara Plains Seasoned safari lovers will love it here (but then so will first-timers!). A small, seven-roomed camp under canvas, the quality is first class and matched only by the enormous range of activities available, which include balloon safaris, local village visits and unrivalled access to wildlife habitats.
